NATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVER SUPPORT PROGRAM

The Older Americans Act of 2000 established the National Family Caregivers Support Program to help families fulfill their roles as caregivers.  The Federal Administration on Aging allocated funds to each state.  In Kentucky, the 15 Area Agencies on Aging received shares of these funds to meet local needs.

The Northern Kentucky Family Caregiver Support Program is designed to provide Family Caregivers is Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen, and Pendleton Counties with information and services that will benefit them and improve their quality of life, as well as the life of the care recipient.

What services will this program provide?

  • Information to Family Caregivers about available local services
  • Assistance in gaining access to these services
  • Counseling, caregiver education, training, and information about support groups to assist with decision-making and problem solving
  • Respite care for eligible caregivers to provide temporary relief from the responsibilities of fulltime caregiving

Who is a Family Caregiver?
