The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure of the average change in prices over time in a fixed market basket of goods and services. The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the CPI-U for all urban consumers which covers about 80% of the total population. Click on each month to see that month's news release from the BLS.
Local Consumer Price Index The Bureau of Labor Statistics' Midwest (Chicago) office issues semi-annual CPI numbers for the Cincinnati Metropolitan region. This index is not a comparison of the difference of the Cincinnati region to other metropolitan areas or the nation, but is a comparison of the price of a set basket of goods purchased in Cincinnati during the 1982-84 base period.
