The Workforce Investment & Opportunity Act - Youth Connect Program provides individuals ages 16-24 with opportunities for Educational Enhancement Funding and a paid internships that connect youth to local organizations/companies within top industry sectors.
Individuals must be between the ages of 16-24. Household Income must meet low income criteria of 70% LLSIL or below, and is based according to family size. Individuals must have an employment or educational barrier (basic skills deficient, additional assistance needed for work readiness, parenting youth, etc).
Services Offered within the Program
Individuals approved for the Youth Connect Program may be eligible for up to $7,000 in Education Enhancement Funding for post-secondary training. Youth Internships are available for eligible individuals, and are designed to assists young job seekers with limited education and experience who are interested in becoming work ready. All individuals who participate in the Youth Connect program will have a career counselor to provide additional supportive services such as: basic skills assessment, career exploration, job searching, resume writing, as well as interviewing prep. Participants also have the opportunity to gain the National Retail Foundation Customer Service certification.
