The Northern Kentucky Area Development District has two divisions that deal with various aspects of local government and community development, the Development Division and the Public Administration Division.
Development Division A major task of the Development Division is to assist local officials in their efforts to secure funding for various public projects including:
- Residential Water and Sewage Systems Construction and Improvements
Industrial Site Acquisition and Development Loans and Incentives for Job Creation Projects Recreational Trails Projects Senior Citizen Centers Public Safety Projects Environmental Projects
The Division works closely with various agencies including: Kentucky Department of Local Government (DLG) Kentucky Housing Corporation U.S. Economic Development Administration Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Division Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Kentucky Justice Cabinet U.S. Department of Justice Kentucky Infrastructure Authority Kentucky Division of Water U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection Kentucky Department for Natural Resources Kentucky Heritage Council Kentucky Division of Emergency Management Federal Emergency Management Administration Kentucky Office of Homeland Security United States Army Corp of Engineers
Staff members have worked with the above agencies and others to secure funding for communities for varied programs including transportation enhancement projects, water and sewage treatment systems, disaster recovery, historic preservation, industrial park development, and urban renewal.
In addition, the Development Division is involved in regional transportation planning. The NKADD serves as the regional transportation planning organization for Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Owen, and Pendleton Counties.
The Development Division also provides planning assistance such as writing zoning ordinances, comprehensive plans, geographic and demographic data services, and other projects. In addition, the NKADD maintains a Data Center that serves as a resource for local governments, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals.

Public Administration Division The Public Administration Division is committed to providing high quality, state-of-the-art management consulting to the district's clients by making available a vast array of sound, innovative services and products in the areas of public administration, human resource management, risk management, finance, governance, and other areas as required, in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our clientele as we collectively serve the Northern Kentucky community.
