On August 13th, 2015, the Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD) was honored to co-sponsor the 21st Annual Northern Kentucky Senior Expo with St. Elizabeth Healthcare and mymedicarequestion.com. In addition to learning about the wealth of supportive services offered through NKADD, attendees also accessed information and screenings from St. Elizabeth Healthcare’s wide range of preventative and therapeutic health services as well as received education and assistance from mymedicarequestion.com’s informed staff regarding all things Medicare. Eighty three other providers also took the great opportunity to acquaint the community with their services, which spanned from home delivered meals to home modification and medication management to transportation. The knowledgeable representatives staffing exhibitor booths spent their day talking with attendees, answering questions, offering information, and giving and receiving contact information per request to enable follow up after the event.
Throughout its twenty one years, this community event that boasts representatives from dozens of organizations specializing in needed services for seniors and their loved ones, as well as live entertainment, has continued to draw attendees from as far away as Carroll County and as close by as Cincinnati. In 2015, twelve hundred seniors, family members, and friends from in and around Northern Kentucky came to access information and connect to service providers. The whole of Newport on the Levee buzzed with conversation and movement as hundreds of attendees throughout the day met with a wide range of exhibitors.
Guests also enjoyed great entertainment. The day kicked off with an exciting performance from Circus Mojo, whose talented performers not only executed their own feats impressively but also engaged and taught the audience some of their simpler tricks. Afterward, a live performance by tribute band The Sweet Beats transported attendees to the British Invasion of the 1960’s with uncanny renditions of Beatles favorites, all while dressed in the outfits and playing the instruments the Fab Four made famous in the early days of their career.
During and afterward, attendees of the Northern Kentucky Senior Expo reflected their appreciation and enjoyment of the event, which brings together the fun of a day out with the convenience of a virtual directory of needed services in one place. For the Northern Kentucky community, this event continues to be a great opportunity for seniors and their families, friends, and loved ones to enjoy a day of learning more about the services that Northern Kentucky has to offer.
Please make a note of the date of the 2016 Northern Kentucky Senior Expo once it is posted and plan to attend!
