The Employment Connections Wage Subsidy program is a useful tool in helping KTAP clients overcome employment barriers. The program offers potential employers incentives; such as, six months of wage reimbursement (75% for the first four months, and 50% for the following two months), federal and state tax credits, as well as the opportunity to train employees with little to no work history who are striving to obtain self-sufficiency for themselves and their families.

Employment Connections staff is working with record numbers within its Wage Subsidy program. In April, 11 KTAP clients successfully began employment in a variety of positions across the twelve county area served by EC. In March, 28 clients were enrolled and placed in paid positions, 22 in February, and 24 in January. Since the beginning of the fiscal year in July, there have been 96 Employment Connections clients successfully employed in the wage subsidy program.

To date, all clients who have completed the six month program have been offered full time positions with their employers. Several of these clients have also been given pay raises and promotions upon successfully completing the Wage Subsidy program. Within a month of beginning employment with a locally owned cleaning service, one client was promoted to shift supervisor and given a pay raise of approximately $5.00, increasing her wage to $13.00 per hour. These types of success stories happen on a monthly basis and give inspiration to other EC clients who are working hard to gain employment and succeed in the workforce.
