The City of Southgate, KY is seeking a full-time Public Works Laborer (40 hrs.).

Job duties include street repairs: blacktop & concrete, repairs, maintenance and cleaning of city streets, curbs, and sidewalks, changing/repairing street signs, maintenance of sewers and catch basins, salting and plowing of streets during ice and/or snow conditions.  Maintaining parks and lake by landscaping and trimming weeds, shrubs, tree limbs, fallen trees, planting, mowing grass. General maintenance and repairs to City buildings.

Candidate shall have a working knowledge and be able to operate tools and equipment supplied by the Public Works Department.  This includes, but is not limited to dump truck, snow plow, salt spreader, backhoe, leaf vacuum, lawn mower, and various hand and power tools needed to perform assigned tasks. 

Successful candidate will have a high school diploma, be at least 18 years old with experience in construction and/or maintenance work.  Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather.  Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.  Ability to lift 50 pounds.  Must possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.  Must be able to pass background check, drug screen, and job duty assessment. Must be within 20 miles from work location.
